Cookie Policy

Effective July 4, 2026. Checkers.now uses only the handful of cookies and browser storage keys it needs to work. There are no advertising trackers here, and nothing that follows you around the web.

This page explains what we store and why, so you know exactly what is happening in your browser when you play.

Cookies and local storage, briefly

A cookie is a tiny file a site stores in your browser. Local storage (localStorage) is a similar browser feature that holds a little more data, entirely on your device. We use both, but sparingly.

What we store

Name / typePurposeDuration
Session cookieKeeps you signed in after you log in with Google.Until you sign out or it expires (up to 30 days)
CSRF tokenA security token that protects forms (like contact) from cross-site abuse.Session
ck:settings (localStorage)Remembers your board theme, sound and display preferences.Until you clear it
ck:stats (localStorage)Stores your per-variant games played, wins and best times.Until you clear it
ck:save (localStorage)Saves a game in progress so you can resume where you left off.Until the game ends or you clear it
ck:guestname (localStorage)Remembers the display name you use for leaderboards and multiplayer.Until you clear it

No advertising trackers

We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. The storage above exists purely to run the game and remember your own preferences.

Managing storage

You are always in control. You can clear cookies and local storage from your browser's settings at any time. Clearing local storage will reset your saved games, statistics and preferences on this device. Signing out removes the session cookie.
